TripleBird - Bending the curve of biodiversity loss
This research is led by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in partnership with the German Federation of Avifaunists (DDA) and in collaboration with the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) and the University of Potsdam. It is supported by states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, and the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
Summary
The TripleBird project bridges the gap between biodiversity monitoring and effective nature conservation measures. Together with partners from academia and the field, we generate robust insights for assessing and protecting biodiversity.
TripleBird combines three key components:
- BirdTwin: a digital twin based on bird monitoring and environmental data, forms the foundation (led by Petra Jacobs, UFZ)
- BirdFutures: develops models and scenarios in collaboration with stakeholders from the business, conservation and financial sectors (led by Tatiane Micheletti, UFZ)
- BirdBusiness: supports applications for businesses and financial institutions (led by Milina Alber and Johannes Förster, UFZ)
